Hair Extensions for Fall

3 Tips to Keep Your Extensions Fresh This Fall

As we settle into fall, it’s a beautiful time to witness nature at work. The colors are warmer while the temperature is cooler. The air clears up as humidity takes a vacation. This means it’s also an opportunity for your curls to fall in a trap of dryness— but have no fear! These 3 tips will be your guide to keeping your Heat Free Hair extensions fresh this season:

1. Condition...Deep Condition That Is.

When it comes to curl care, this is a must. In addition to co-washing, deep conditioning helps your hair maintain shine and elasticity during these colder times. Fall air can strip moisture from your curls and deep conditioning is a great way to create a coat of hydration. After a wash, apply your deep conditioner from the mid-shaft to the ends of the hair and leave it in for 20-30 minutes. Try doing this once a week to revitalize your curls this season.

*Heat Free Hair Tip: When deep conditioning, add heat by using a plastic hair cap. This will help lock in moisture by creating a “greenhouse effect”.

2. Detangle, Detangle, Detangle.

As you’re doubling up on deep conditioning and co-washing this season, it’s important to detangle your hair. Fall air can make your curls susceptible to fragility and moisturizing alone isn’t enough. Detangling your hair while conditioning will help strengthen the hair to prevent breakage and manage shedding.

You can use a Denman Brush, Tangle Teezer, or finger comb to detangle your hair. When combing through, start from the ends and work your way up to the top of the shaft. This will help you glide through your curls and minimize tugging and pulling. It’s encouraged to make this part of your routine year-round, but with the temperature cooling down, it’s best to do this 2-3 times a week.

 3. Cover Your Hair Outside.

Covering up your hair is a simple yet effective way to protect your hair from fall dryness. Wearing hats and scarves with satin linings can help with curl protection. The slip of the lining will help prevent frizz and retain moisture. Think of it as a stylish protective measure.

Make these tips part of your curl care regimen and take on the season with flawless hair. You deserve it!
